Tiger ‘Yob Kinding’ Captured In Chemor

Chemor: A male tiger known as 'Yob Kinding' was captured after it entered a trap set at a durian orchard near Bukit Kinding, Chemor, today. Perak Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) director Yusoff Shariff reported that the 70-kilogram predator was found inside the trap by six Perhilitan personnel conducting patrols in the area around 1 pm.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the department received a report from the Tanjung Rambutan police station at about 8 pm last night. The police were alerted by residents of Bukit Kinding who discovered tiger footprints and heard roaring sounds at a privately owned durian orchard. Based on this information, a team carried out patrols and found that a male tiger had entered a trap previously set in the area.

Yusoff Shariff confirmed that the tiger was in good health, with no injuries detected. He stated that the tiger would be sent to the National Wildlife Rescue Centre (NWRC) in Sungkai soon for further observation and follow-up treatment. Meanwhile, he dismissed claims that the captured tiger was the same animal preying on livestock around Bukit Bangkong since December 5, suggesting instead that the captured tiger could be the offspring of the one sighted in Bukit Bangkong, believed to be the mother.

Residents in the Bukit Bangkong area are advised to remain vigilant and avoid activities in the recreational areas due to recent tiger sightings. On December 8, residents were alarmed by reports of wild animal attacks, believed to involve a tiger, resulting in two cattle being killed and five others going missing on December 5. Following these complaints, Perhilitan Perak installed two traps and two cameras in the Bukit Kinding, Chemor, and Bukit Bangkong areas.
