Kuala lumpur: Police have dismantled a drug processing and distribution syndicate following the arrest of six individuals, including four foreign nationals, and the seizure of drugs and other items worth RM9.07 million in two raids at a luxury condominium in Jalan Ceylon here last month.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Acting Dang Wangi police chief Supt Nuzulan Mohd Din stated that the first raid, conducted by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division of the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters (IPD), took place at approximately 3.30 pm on August 19, based on intelligence. During this operation, police apprehended two foreign men, two foreign women, and a local man, aged between 19 and 35.
Upon inspecting the condominium unit, law enforcement officials seized 51 packets of powder suspected to be MDMA, weighing 51,686 grammes (51.686 kilogrammes) and estimated to be worth RM7,752,900. Nuzulan shared these details during a press conference at the Dang Wangi IPD.
Further police action included a second raid at another unit in the same condominium, leading to the arrest of an additional foreign man, aged 35. This operation uncovered various types of drugs, including 5.9 kilogrammes of MDMA, 55 grammes of cannabis, eight grammes of Yaba pills, and 150 grammes of Erimin 5 pills, collectively valued at RM908,455. Additionally, authorities confiscated equipment believed to have been used for drug processing.
Nuzulan revealed that urine screenings indicated that four of the six suspects tested positive for Ketamine, Amphetamine (AMP), and Methamphetamine, while the other two suspects tested negative. Investigations suggested that the suspects were involved in processing and distributing drugs after renting the condominium unit to facilitate their operations within the Klang Valley.
In addition to the drug seizure, police confiscated a luxury Lexus vehicle worth RM410,000, RM1,000 in cash, two watches, and a bracelet under the Dangerous Drugs (Forfeiture of Property) Act 1988. This brought the total value of the drugs and other items seized to RM9.07 million.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which stipulates the death penalty or life imprisonment and whipping of no fewer than 12 strokes upon conviction. Four suspects have been charged in court on September 2 under Section 39B and Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act, while the remaining two suspects have been designated as prosecution witnesses.
