No Reports Of MyKad Misuse In Redeeming Government Financial Aid: Fahmi

Kuala lumpur: There have been no reports so far of any misuse of MyKad in redeeming government financial aid distributed through the national identification card, said Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Minister Fahmi Fadzil stated that, up to now, no reports have been received, and the Ministry of Finance has also not informed of any such incidents. This supports the government’s view of MyKad as a reliable method to ensure that aid, especially cash or nationality verification, is conducted securely. The MyKad mechanism is considered efficient for these purposes because it is exclusively held by Malaysian citizens.

Fahmi added that the MyKad system will play a role in the implementation of the RON95 fuel subsidy, priced at RM1.99 per litre, with further details to be announced by the Ministry of Finance. He provided these insights while addressing reporters at the Program Bersama Aktifkan Kesukarelawanan Teras Inspirasi (BAKTI) Komuniti MADANI event at Dataran Kuala Haji Ibrahim.

The event was attended by Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, Communications Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Seri Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa, and Information Department (JAPEN) Director-General Julina Johan. During his speech, Fahmi emphasized that utilizing MyKad for aid and subsidies ensures that only Malaysian citizens receive these benefits, preventing misappropriation and leakage.

At the same programme, Fahmi also officiated the groundbreaking ceremony for Laman Komuniti MADANI, a community project built through local mutual cooperation, and interacted with over 200 Komuniti MADANI members from the Seberang Perai Selatan district.

The BAKTI Komuniti MADANI Programme, organized by JAPEN, was held for the first time in Penang with the aim of enhancing volunteerism within the community and fostering unity. The event featured activities such as traditional sports competitions, coloring contests, and community services including free motorcycle oil changes and haircuts. Additionally, Agro MADANI sales and stalls by local entrepreneurs were part of the programme.
