Seoul: Javen Cheok, an 8-year-old student from Sri Kuala Lumpur International School, won the Runner-Up award in the ‘Robot Survival Basic Category’ at the International Programmable Robotics Competition (IPRC) 2025, held in Seoul, South Korea early this month.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, P3 Platform Sdn Bhd (P3 Platform) stated that Cheok was the only winner from the international partner schools, with all other winners hailing from South Korea. The statement highlighted Malaysia’s growing strength in robotics and coding education.
The IPRC is a prestigious event that encourages students worldwide to develop not only technical expertise but also creativity, teamwork, and global collaboration. The event was organised by Roborobo Co. Ltd. (Roborobo), a significant entity in the Korean educational robotics market. The competition utilized a curriculum developed by Seoul National University, aimed at cultivating students’ logical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills through innovative products.
The competition united students from various countries, challenging them in different categories of robotics programming, design, and survival challenges. Malaysia was represented by eleven students who demonstrated their skills on an international platform.
Roborobo head of global business Brian Yoon remarked on Cheok’s creativity, perseverance, and problem-solving skills as an inspiration to other young learners in Malaysia. Additionally, P3 Platform chief executive officer Estee Mah emphasized that the award demonstrated how young children could excel globally in technology and innovation with the right opportunities.
