Malaysia Shares Healthcare Development Experience With Namibia in Diplomatic Exchange

Kuala lumpur: Malaysia has shared its experience with Namibia in developing a sustainable healthcare system, particularly in achieving universal health coverage (UHC) for its people. Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad announced the exchange during a courtesy call by Namibia's Minister of International Relations and Trade, Selma Ashipala-Musavyi.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Dzulkefly highlighted that Malaysia's public healthcare achievements are often recognized and used as a benchmark by lower-middle-income countries. He emphasized Malaysia's readiness to share its experience with Namibia, underscoring the visit as a key platform to enhance health diplomacy and explore strategic cooperation in public health and related trade.

The meeting included discussions on strengthening the pharmaceutical industry, with Malaysia expressing its willingness to help Namibia address medicine supply shortages through improved trade and healthcare services. Dr Dzulkefly noted that both countries explored opportunities for collaboration in capacity-building to bolster Namibia's healthcare system further.

Additionally, Malaysia aims to promote itself as a medical tourism destination, leveraging its internationally recognized high-quality healthcare services. Dr Dzulkefly stated that the exchange of views reflects the commitment of both nations to align national initiatives with global strategic partners.

He expressed hope that the close ties between Malaysia and Namibia would continue to strengthen, contributing to the well-being of their people and aligning with the Malaysia MADANI aspiration.
