Putrajaya: The government has allocated RM150,000 for the Tuition Mission Putrajaya 2026 (TMP 2026) programme, which aims to provide free tuition classes for students from low-income families preparing for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh stated that the programme, implemented by Putrajaya Corporation (PPj), is designed to ensure that no student is left behind due to financial constraints. About 150 students from nine daily secondary schools in Putrajaya will be selected this year. The classes will focus on four compulsory pass subjects: Bahasa Melayu, English, Mathematics, and History.
Hannah Yeoh, speaking to reporters after launching the programme, mentioned that the classes will be conducted physically at Kompleks Kejiranan Precinct 16 every Tuesday and Thursday from May 5 to October 18, involving a total of 30 sessions. She added that 20 experienced teachers have been appointed as instructors and mentors, and special learning modules have been prepared for the participants.
Hannah noted that the programme has already shown promising results based on the recently announced 2025 SPM results, with four students scoring 9As and one obtaining 8As. She expressed hope that the programme will continue to improve students' academic performance and better prepare them for the upcoming SPM examination. TMP 2026 is targeting a 100 per cent pass rate among its participants.
