Johor Polls: Bong Seng Heng Banks On Councilor Experience To Win Stulang

Johor bahru: Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Stulang state seat, Bong Seng Heng, is banking on his extensive experience as a Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB) councillor to win over voters in the Johor state election. Bong, who is also Johor Bahru MCA division chief, said his four years of service as a councillor has given him a strong understanding of the community's needs and enabled him to build close ties with the local business community.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Bong emphasized the importance of being present in the community, engaging with residents, and adopting a people-first mindset while being ready to serve. He expressed his commitment to addressing residents' concerns and resolving their problems through a continuous and consistent approach. Bong is confident of his chances of winning, attributing this to the strength of the BN campaign machinery and the shared development vision under the 'Maju Johor' agenda led by Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

Bong stated, 'I'm just a representative of Barisan Nasional. Behind me, we have a strong party to back us, and we have our Maju Johor agenda. Let's work together, choose the right candidate and move DUN Stulang forward together with Maju Johor.' He also commented on the participation of Parti Bersama Malaysia (BERSAMA) in the Stulang contest, describing it as healthy democratic competition and stating that the final decision rests with the voters.

Bong remarked, 'Frankly speaking, they are quite new to us. I think they are less than three months old, and I don't have much to comment about them. But I would say that everyone has the right to contest this seat. So, let's have a fair competition, show our best to the people, and let them decide who is the best candidate for them.'

The Stulang constituency will see a four-cornered contest involving Bong Seng Heng (BN-MCA), incumbent Andrew Chen Kah Eng (PH-DAP), Stanley Tan (BERSAMA), and Lim Chin Eng @ Roland Lim (PN-Bersatu). A total of 172 candidates are contesting in the Johor state election, which will be held on July 11, with early voting scheduled for July 7.
