Phnom penh: Malaysian Ambassador to Cambodia Shaharuddin Onn has urged Malaysian companies to remain a vital pillar of the growing Malaysia-Cambodia economic partnership. He emphasized the pivotal role that the Malaysian business community in Cambodia has played in deepening commercial ties and strengthening people-to-people connections, showcasing their ongoing commitment to the bilateral relationship.

According to Nam News Network, Ambassador Shaharuddin expressed his pride in the unity of the Malaysian people and the success of Malaysian companies in Cambodia. He highlighted that their achievements and contributions in various fields provide a positive perception and image to society. These remarks were made during a gathering with Malaysians after a flag-raising ceremony at the embassy's premises.

Despite their busy Monday routines and the humid, monsoon-laced morning, Malaysians from all walks of life gathered in Phnom Penh to mark the 2026 National Day celebration. The event turned into a warm celebration of national pride and unity. In keeping with tradition, the Jalur Gemilang was proudly raised to honor the historic occasion, followed by a reception that fostered a spirit of camaraderie among the Malaysian community.

Ambassador Shaharuddin acknowledged the enduring sense of pride among Malaysians who have been residing in Cambodia for an extended period. "Although many of you have been in this country for a long time, you are still proud of the identity of Malaysians. We are proud of our country's history," he stated.
