Kuala Lumpur: More non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and the private sector should provide schooling aid for children from less affordable families to help ease the financial burden of their parents, said Bandar Tun Razak Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail. Dr Wan Azizah, who is Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s wife, emphasized that such efforts could prevent students from dropping out of school due to financial problems.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Wan Azizah highlighted the importance of investing in education, particularly in fields like artificial intelligence and digital technology, as the country continues its development. She stated that by educating children in these areas, there is potential for future benefits, creating a win-win situation for both investors and the community.
Dr Wan Azizah made these remarks while speaking to reporters after distributing contributions under the Back to School Programme. The initiative included a special contribution totaling RM115,000 to 23 Parents and Teachers Associations (PTA) of schools in the Bandar Tun Razak parliamentary constituency for 2025. During the event, 1,000 secondary and primary students received school bags from MyPrihatin Foundation and uniform vouchers worth RM100 from Amanah Iktiar Malaysia, Tenaga Nasional Berhad, and Yayasan Gerbang Bandar Tun Razak.
In her speech, Dr Wan Azizah expressed gratitude to all donors for their generosity, noting that their contributions would support the welfare and well-being of the community, aligning with the MADANI framework. She also mentioned that the prime minister is deeply committed to education and sensitive to the needs of less affordable communities, with various government initiatives focusing on education and social welfare.
Dr Wan Azizah concluded by underscoring the transformative power of education, encouraging parents to support their children’s educational pursuits to the highest level.
