Delbove Secures Victory as 2025 Le Tour de Langkawi Overall Champion

Kuala lumpur: French rider Joris Delbove was crowned the overall champion of the 2025 Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) despite finishing 17th in the final 180.2-kilometre stage from Tangkak to Kuala Lumpur, which concluded at the iconic Petronas Twin Towers today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Delbove, 25, from the Totalenergies team, showcased consistent performance throughout the race, dominating the Green Jersey from the fifth to eighth stages. He recorded an overall time of 27:17:38 seconds. He narrowly edged out his closest competitors, Ander Halland Johannessen of Uno-X-Mobility, who was three seconds behind, and a rider from the Tudor Pro Cycling Team, who was seven seconds behind, securing second and third places, respectively.

Delbove expressed his joy after the race, stating, “I will treasure the wonderful memories I’ve made here in Malaysia and at Le Tour de Langkawi. It has truly been an amazing experience, the country’s beauty and scenery are absolutely breathtaking, and at the same time, the racing has been incredibly intense. So, this victory means a lot to me, and I’m really happy.”

In the final stage, XDS Astana rider Aaron Gate took the victory with a time of 3:50:05 seconds, followed closely by Aivaras Mikutis from the Tudor Pro Cycling Team, while Nil Gimeno of Equipo Kern Pharma finished seven seconds behind in third place.

The Orange Jersey for the King of Sprint in this edition was claimed by Uno X Mobility rider Erlend Blikra, who collected 63 points. He was followed by De Kleijn with 51 points and Manuel Penalver Aniorte of Team Polti VisitMalta with 43 points. The Polka Dot Jersey was awarded to Patrick Eddy of Team Picnic PostNL, who shared 15 points with Burgos Burpellet BH rider Jambaljamts Sainbayar, while Gimeno secured third place with 13 points.

The White Jersey, recognizing the best Asian rider, went to Nicolya Vinoukorov from XDS Astana with a time of 27:17:49 seconds. He was followed by Thanakhan Chaiyasombat of Thailand Continental Cycling with a time of 27:19:21 seconds, and Sainbayar took the third spot with 27:19:44 seconds.

Team Polti VisitMalta was named the best overall team with a cumulative time of 81:53:46 seconds. They were followed by Unibet Tietema Rockets and Burgos Burpellet BH, who secured second and third places, respectively. The best Asian team accolade was awarded to the Nusantara BYC team with a time of 82:29:24 seconds, followed by Aisan Racing Team and Thailand Continental Cycling Team.

National rider Tsen Ren Bao from the St George team emerged as the best Malaysian rider in this edition, finishing 34th overall.
