SMK Petaling Clinches YB Datuk Fahmi Fadzil Cup in Nail-Biting Final

Kuala lumpur: Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Petaling emerged victorious by securing the YB Datuk Fahmi Fadzil Cup after a closely contested 1-0 win against SMK Bangsar in the final of the Under-18 Lembah Pantai Parliamentary Constituency Schools Football Championship, held at the SMK Seri Pantai Football Field today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the championship was organized by Kampung Kerinchi Football Club, with its chairman Muhammad Zulkarnain Maarof expressing his gratitude for the successful inaugural edition of the tournament. The event garnered full support from Lembah Pantai MP Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, who also serves as the Communications Minister.

Muhammad Zulkarnain Maarof shared that the tournament aims to foster young talent from Lembah Pantai, with hopes of enabling them to represent Super League clubs and the national team in the future. He expressed optimism that the championship would continue to thrive in the coming years and become an annual event.

In the match for third place, SMK Bandaraya triumphed over SMK Seri Pantai, winning 4-1 on penalties after the game concluded in a 1-1 draw. Abdullah Izhar Mohamed Yusof, the Political Secretary to Fahmi, was also present to witness the championship.

The victorious SMK Petaling team was awarded RM1,000 and a trophy, while the runners-up, SMK Bangsar, took home RM500. The team finishing third received RM300, and the fourth-place team was awarded RM200. Additionally, the teams from second to fourth place were given a plaque.

Individual honors were also presented for the Best Player, Best Goalkeeper, Top Scorer, and Most Disciplined Team, with each recipient receiving RM100 and a plaque.
