Jitra: Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa called on young people to harness social media and every available platform to promote unity and uphold national values. He urged them to steer clear of hate and divisive rhetoric that could undermine the nation’s harmony.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohamad Fauzi emphasized the importance of instilling a love for the country in the younger generation, urging them to study diligently as knowledge is the foundation for safeguarding Malaysia’s independence and advancing the nation. Speaking at the launch of the National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2025 campaign for Kedah at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Jitra, he highlighted the significance of valuing the peace and freedom achieved through past sacrifices and struggles.
Mohamad Fauzi pointed out that the younger generation represents the nation’s future heirs. Without early cultivation of patriotism and love for the country, they risk losing touch with their roots, becoming distracted by globalization, and losing their Malaysian identity. He mentioned that the Information Department (JAPEN) has launched the ‘1 Home, 1 Jalur Gemilang’ campaign to coincide with the 2025 National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations, reflecting a commitment to fostering love for the country by flying the Jalur Gemilang, a symbol of pride, unity, and national identity.
He urged citizens to raise the flag at homes, buildings, business premises, vehicles, and government offices, representing the spirit of struggle, national dignity, and the Malaysian identity. Today’s program also featured the Kedah leg of the Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang convoy, involving 43 vehicles from the ministry’s departments and other agencies.
Side events included the Safe Internet Campaign, promoting ethical online practices; a national quiz to strengthen patriotism; and 12 booths by government and private agencies offering direct services to the public. Also present were Communications Ministry senior division secretary (Management) Mazlan Abd Mutalib and JAPEN director-general Julina Johan.
