Johor bahru: Barisan Nasional (BN) has announced its plan to reclaim several parliamentary seats currently held by Bersatu and PAS in the impending General Election. Its chairman, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, emphasized that a series of studies and surveys will be conducted to identify seats where the party stands a strong chance of winning.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Zahid, who also serves as UMNO president, made these remarks while officiating the closing ceremony of the Sri Gading UMNO Division Delegates’ Meeting. He affirmed the party’s dedication to working hard to ensure that these seats are recaptured by UMNO candidates in the upcoming election. The event was attended by notable figures, including Johor UMNO Liaison Committee chairman and Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, as well as Sri Gading UMNO Division chief Datuk Mohd Lassim Burhan.
Ahmad Zahid urged UMNO members to remain steadfast and not be influenced by the ‘UMDAP’ narrative promoted by the opposition. He clarified that
the current political alliance involves a coalition between Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH), highlighting the presence of MCA and MIC within BN and DAP, PKR, and Amanah within PH. He cautioned against falling for opposition propaganda aimed at disrupting BN and PH’s unity, which could lead to a repeat of the ‘tebuk atap’ (backdoor) tactic.
Stressing the importance of the political cooperation in place, Ahmad Zahid underscored the need for party members to accept and understand this alliance to ensure governmental stability and pave the way for UMNO’s resurgence. He remarked on the necessity of resolving internal conflicts and defending the party against external attacks to secure victory in the election.
