Kelantan: The Real Warriors (TRW) have been given a deadline of two days, until Tuesday, to address the salary arrears issue affecting nearly 20 players and the team’s coaches from last season. Former TRW head coach, Rezal Zambery Yahya, disclosed that this decision was reached after three previous settlement offers from TRW management were deemed biased and unprofessional.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Rezal criticized the offers which included a half-salary cut every month, payments ranging from RM500 to RM1,000 per match, or an installment plan of RM200 per month until the debt is cleared. Rezal expressed dissatisfaction with these proposals, comparing them to an implausible financial plan. He mentioned that they have proposed several counter-offers and set a deadline for TRW to respond by Tuesday.
Rezal also raised concerns about TRW’s practice of continuing to pay imported players to avoid FIFA transfer restrictions, while local players, who remained with the team through the end of the season, were neglected. Discussions with TRW management have occurred previously, but Rezal noted a lack of seriousness in settling the arrears dating from February to April.
Should TRW fail to settle the arrears within the given timeframe, Rezal stated that an official complaint would be lodged with the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) Status Committee for further action. Additionally, Rezal highlighted that KDN FC president Rozi Muhammad has yet to settle a personal debt amounting to nearly hundreds of thousands of ringgit, which was used to aid the club’s management last season, including player salaries. Rezal urged Rozi to take responsibility for resolving the debt, which has been outstanding since September of the previous year.
