Tiktok shop:ikTok Shop, in collaboration with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), today launched an economic support package for merchants and consumers in Malaysia through reduced commission fees on essential goods, nationwide shipping rebates, and discounts on daily necessities.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, TikTok Shop Malaysia Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships, Nur Azre Abdul Aziz, expressed that the company sees its e-commerce platform as a means to create significant socioeconomic impact, benefiting the entire value chain. "Through this cost-of-living relief initiative, TikTok Shop has invested more than RM180 million directly into the local communities we serve. It will help absorb some of the operational costs of local businesses and alleviate the cost of living for Malaysian households, while also stimulating income opportunities for employees of local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), logistics frontliners, agency partners, and affiliate creators," she stated.
Under this initiative, TikTok Shop has expanded its commission fee waivers to include five new essential goods sub-categories, increasing the total number of sub-categories enjoying zero per cent commission to 56. The newly eligible sub-categories include milk, powdered milk, yoghurt, and fermented dairy products. Additionally, seller commission fees for 39 other essential goods sub-categories have been reduced by between 0.5 and 9.1 percentage points. Sellers will also receive a RM2 rebate for each order to help lower nationwide shipping costs, making delivery charges more affordable for consumers.
Meanwhile, Armizan highlighted the government's commitment to ensuring economic growth provides tangible benefits for the rakyat, focusing on affordability, entrepreneurship support, and inclusive opportunities. He praised TikTok Shop's proactive collaboration in helping ease the cost of living for Malaysians and stimulating domestic trade. "It demonstrates how digital platforms can complement national efforts to empower local MSMEs to participate sustainably in the digital economy and elevate the purchasing power of everyday Malaysians," he said.
Malaysian shoppers can benefit from discount vouchers of up to 30 per cent and additional savings when using TikTok Pay to purchase groceries and daily necessities such as rice, sugar, and flour. The event also brings together local entrepreneurs, affiliate creators, shoppers, and government partners to strengthen Malaysian brands and domestic trade through digital upskilling, business matching, knowledge sharing, and marketing support.
The initiative aligns with KPDN's Jom Beli Produk Malaysia (Jom Malaysia) campaign. TikTok Shop's focus, as a Malaysian brand, is to keep everyday essentials affordable for families while supporting their team. By reducing seller fees, they aim to pass greater value directly to consumers and protect employees' livelihoods, all while growing sustainably in the digital economy. "We appreciate TikTok Shop's efforts to support both sellers and shoppers through this initiative. It allows local businesses like ours to continue offering competitive prices while helping more Malaysians access essential goods at a time when affordability remains important for many households," she added.
