Kuala Lumpur: Taiwan and Malaysia’s industries, renowned for their complementary strengths, are aligning their efforts in the realms of high-tech development, sustainability, and digitalisation. Taiwan’s expertise in semiconductors and information and communication technology (ICT) is set to enhance Malaysia’s focus on these sectors.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) deputy executive director Keven Cheng emphasized that both nations are collaborating to establish a resilient, vertically integrated, and innovation-driven supply chain throughout the region. As the global economy advances into the age of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation, Malaysia is positioning itself as a pivotal player, serving as both a global semiconductor hub and a burgeoning centre for digital infrastructure in Southeast Asia.
Cheng highlighted Malaysia’s strategic location, robust manufacturing ecosystem, and forward-looking digital economy policies as key factors in its increasing role in the region’s technological future. He made these remarks during the soft launch of Taiwan Expo 2025, expressing Taiwan’s eagerness to further reinforce this partnership through the event.
This year’s expo will focus on AI, featuring leading Taiwanese companies that will showcase cutting-edge technologies across various sectors, including smart manufacturing, Industry 4.0, intelligent healthcare, robotics, digital finance, and energy-saving solutions. These innovations offer a glimpse into a future shaped by Taiwan’s technological leadership.
Scheduled from June 23 to 25 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Taiwan Expo 2025 will host over 200 Taiwanese exhibitors. The event will also include the Taiwan AI Innovation Seminar and a series of activities designed to foster new connections and long-term business relationships.
Themed ‘Innovative Solutions for a Better Life’, this marks the 8th edition of the expo since its launch in 2017. Cheng noted the success of the Taiwan Expo in Malaysia, which has attracted over 1,200 Taiwanese companies, drawing approximately 160,000 visitors and generating more than US$400 million in business opportunities since its inception.
