The operations have led to 95 cases being brought to court, with nine series of Community Service Orders (PKM) completed, involving 58 offenders.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the 10th series of PKM was smoothly carried out today at three sites, namely Taman Gelora, Taman Bandar Raub, and Esplanade Temerloh, adhering to established SOPs. Fourteen offenders were ordered by the court to serve community service during this round, with participants hailing from multiple districts, including Kuantan, Pekan, Raub, Rompin, Temerloh, Cameron Highlands, Bentong, and Bera, as well as some transferred from Hang Tuah Jaya, Melaka.
All offenders are men aged between 22 and 65, including 11 citizens and three non-citizens. They were convicted for discarding cigarette butts in public under the Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Act 2007 (Act 672) and sentenced to community service ranging from two to 12 hours. During the PKM, offenders performed cleaning tasks within concession areas, which included cleaning public areas, walkways, drains, public toilets, and other facilities, as per local needs.
According to SWCorp, discarding cigarette butts remains the most frequent offence, prompting the agency to urge public cooperation. The organization called on residents to obey the law, adopt responsible cleanliness habits, and support the 'Zero Littering' goal to create a cleaner, safer, and more prosperous environment.
