SSDU and EER Digital Ink Collaboration for Sustainable Data Centre in Selangor

Kuala lumpur: Smart Selangor Delivery Unit (SSDU Innovations Sdn Bhd) has entered into a Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) with EER Digital Sdn Bhd to explore a Sustainable Data Centre pilot project aimed at enhancing Selangor's pursuit of sustainable artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the MoC was signed during the AIBP Conference and Exhibition Malaysia 2026. The event brought together corporate, government, and technology leaders to address topics such as digital transformation, AI adoption, cybersecurity, and innovations based on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles.

The collaboration marks SSDU's initial venture into high-density AI infrastructure, incorporating graphics processing unit (GPU) immersion cooling technology. SSDU's chief executive officer, Gaddafi Musli, stated that this partnership signifies Selangor's first step towards exploring the development of responsible high-density AI infrastructure with sustainability, governance, and public value as foundational elements.

SSDU's role involves coordinating, assessing, and uniting the appropriate stakeholders to ensure Selangor makes informed decisions moving forward. The MoC will allow both parties to evaluate the feasibility, technical necessities, sustainability metrics, and governance framework for the pilot project, which is designed to support AI-ready computing infrastructure while reducing the environmental impact typically associated with high-density data centres.

The pilot project will analyze the effectiveness of immersion cooling technology in managing GPU-intensive AI workloads, focusing on energy efficiency, water usage, space limitations, safety, operational readiness, cybersecurity, public sector applications, and long-term scalability. A joint technical working group is anticipated to be established to develop a project action plan.

However, SSDU stressed that the MoC is solely exploratory and does not imply any commitment to full-scale implementation or procurement awards.
