Kuala lumpur: The Public Service Commission (SPA) is actively engaged in the continuous enhancement of its recruitment strategies, specifically the Public Service Entry Examination (PSEE), to ensure alignment with the evolving demands of public service and to select the most qualified candidates.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the chairman, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Jailani Muhamed Yunus, emphasized that these evaluations are conducted after each recruitment session. The process considers generational shifts, the current needs within the public service sector, and the effectiveness of existing recruitment methods.
Dr Ahmad Jailani highlighted the necessity of adapting recruitment assessments to the distinct characteristics of different generations, such as Generation Z, Generation X, and Generation Y. He made these remarks during a joint interview with Bernama and RTM after overseeing the Profession Assessment Centre (PAC) and the National Physical Fitness Test (UKJK) for the recruitment of Administrative and Diplomatic Officers (PTD).
He reiterated SPA's commitment to exploring more effective recruitment mechanisms, acknowledging that the current PSEE and psychometric testing might overlook some talented candidates. The evaluation considers various core elements like integrity, character, and emotional balance to determine candidates' suitability for specific roles.
Moreover, Dr Ahmad Jailani clarified that failing the PSEE should not be seen as an indicator of a candidate's overall capability or qualification. Instead, it may suggest a better fit for other roles with different requirements. For the current year's PTD recruitment, nearly 100,000 applications were processed, with 7,338 candidates advancing past the PSEE to the PAC and UKJK stages, which included 43 individuals with disabilities.
