Kuala lumpur: The Selangor International Care Summit (SICS) 2025, scheduled for October, is set to become a pivotal platform for attracting and bolstering investments in Selangor’s care sector. Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari highlighted the summit’s potential in preparing Selangor for the challenges of an ageing society by bringing together a diverse group of stakeholders, including care providers, researchers, non-governmental organizations, and industry players from both local and international arenas.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Amirudin emphasized that with 60 exhibition booths, forums, conferences, and business matching sessions, SICS will foster new ideas, strategic partnerships, and investments. The event also supports the Selangor Care Economy Policy through collaboration with UNICEF Malaysia, aiming to safeguard early childhood development.
Amirudin noted the involvement of the Khazanah Research Institute (KRI) in recognizing and assessing the value of care work, particularly the contributions of women at home or in care centers. This initiative is expected to enhance services for senior citizens, children, persons with disabilities, and caregivers, while also improving workforce skills and attracting advanced care technology from countries like Japan and South Korea.
He further stated that Selangor is pioneering a comprehensive care sector policy running until 2030, aligned with the vision of ensuring a safer, more inclusive, and prosperous future for all residents. This policy underlines Selangor’s commitment to being the first Malaysian state to develop such a comprehensive framework.
Previously, Selangor State Executive Councillor for Women’s Development and Social Welfare Anfaal Saari mentioned that SICS 2025 embodies the state government’s aspirations to establish Selangor as an inclusive, sustainable, and resilient care economy hub within the Asia Pacific region. Scheduled to take place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from October 9 to 11, the summit will feature four key components: a policy issues forum, sector-specific exhibitions, business matching sessions, and open dialogues. It is expected to draw over 3,000 participants, including both local and international stakeholders.
