Shah alam: The demolition of Shah Alam Stadium was completed several days before the scheduled date, as confirmed by Selangor Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) group chief executive officer, Datuk Saipolyazan M. Yusop. Dismissing any claims of delay, he clarified that the demolition process, originally slated to conclude by June 30, 2025, was finished ahead of the projected timeline.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, although the stadium appeared to be fully demolished only recently, the process was executed in phases following a detailed plan. Additionally, hoarding installation around the project site has commenced. The demolition not only included visible structures but also involved the removal of substructures like pilings and pile caps, which were completely demolished four days ahead of schedule.
Saipolyazan explained that demolition debris, such as concrete rubble, was repurposed to fill and elevate the stadium site by three to four meters above its original ground level. Construction for Phase 1 of the Shah Alam Sports Complex (SASC) is anticipated to start in October, following the completion of the design process.
He mentioned that an agreement was recently inked with the main developer, Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd (MRCB), for the stadium’s redevelopment. This redevelopment includes constructing the stadium, parking bays, open spaces, and the Jubilee Park recreational area. Preliminary work, involving the marking of construction boundaries, is already underway.
Furthermore, Saipolyazan noted that MBI and MRCB have opted for the conventional construction method instead of the Industrialised Building System (IBS) to reduce overall construction costs. The SASC development project, spanning three phases, is expected to be completed by 2029.
