Rawang: A Selangor state executive councilor declared that the state government remains open to criticism and feedback from residents concerning the Batu Arang waste-to-energy (WTE) plant project in Rawang.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Local Government and Tourism Committee chairman Datuk Ng Suee Lim addressed concerns raised by the Rawang Tolak Incinerator (RTI) Network, which suggested that he should not chair the hearing session of the Selangor State Structure Plan 2025 held today. Ng questioned RTI’s actions, stating that the government consistently invites feedback and objections for large-scale projects like the incinerator through public hearings.
Ng refuted RTI’s claims that he dismissed their views, emphasizing that he had already considered their objections during a prior session organized by the Selayang Municipal Council. He reiterated the government’s commitment to transparency and open dialogue with the community.
In response to RTI’s concerns, Ng voluntarily withdrew from chairing the session, allowing for an alternative chairman to oversee the next session where RTI could present their objections. He announced that either state Infrastructure and Agriculture Committee chairman Datuk Izham Hashim or state Housing and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Borhan Aman Shah would lead the upcoming session.
