Selangor Export Day: MATRADE, State Gov’t Strengthen Collaboration, Boost Local Exports

Selangor: The third edition of the Selangor Export Day on Monday (Aug 25) and Tuesday (Aug 26) is expected to bring together over 200 entrepreneurs and companies, especially micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), from various industrial sectors in the state.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) stated that the programme offers entrepreneurs the potential to explore and expand their export market, thus strengthening Selangor’s position as one of the country’s main export states.

MATRADE chairman Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican highlighted that with export value reaching RM357.06 billion for 2024, an increase of 7.3 per cent in exports compared to the previous year, Selangor continues to be the key driver of the country’s trade aspirations. He emphasized that the Selangor Export Day is not just a regular entrepreneur programme but serves as a platform for entrepreneurs to stay connected, share ideas, and spark innovations. He urged all entrepreneurs, especially in Selangor, to seize this opportunity to obtain the latest export-related information and prepare to venture into the global market.

The Selangor Export Day 2025, scheduled to take place at Dewan Raja Muda Musa in Section 7, Shah Alam, is organized by the Selangor government through the State Economic Planning Unit (UPEN) and the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) in collaboration with MATRADE. The programme will be officiated by state Youth, Sports and Entrepreneurship Committee chairman Mohd Najwan Halimi and PKNS Group deputy chief executive officer (corporate) Suhaimi Kasdon, with MATRADE chief executive officer Datuk Seri Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz set to attend.

The two-day event will feature a range of activities, including exporter advisory clinics, briefings on international market opportunities, exporter success story sharing sessions, and information on financial facilities and grants for exporters. Mohd Najwan emphasized that MSMEs are the backbone of the state economy and, with strategic support and exposure to the global market, they can boost their export potential more sustainably. He noted that in today’s digital economy era, entrepreneurs’ ability to adapt to new technologies, leverage e-commerce, and use market data will determine their resilience. Collaborative efforts between MATRADE and the state government through this Selangor Export Day are crucial to ensuring MSMEs are not only resilient but also capable of rapidly growing to become competitive exporters on the global stage.
