Kuala Lumpur: The Chief of Air Force, Gen Tan Sri Mohd Asghar Khan Goriman Khan, has reiterated the importance of human capital development within the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF). He emphasized the need for nurturing personnel skilled in handling new and sophisticated assets as part of the ongoing transformation in the defense sector.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Gen Mohd Asghar Khan stressed the significance of enhancing personnel capabilities and readiness to manage complex technology in line with the RMAF Capability Development Plan, CAP55. He highlighted the necessity of sending trainees for specialized training in new technologies, including artificial intelligence and other advanced systems, to ensure preparedness when these high-tech assets are deployed.
Gen Mohd Asghar Khan expressed his hope that the focus on human capital development would continue. He emphasized the importance of discipline and expertise in mastering new technologies to ensure successful completion of assignments. He made these remarks during a ceremony at the Air Force College, where 27 trainees received their flight wings, including 12 fixed-wing pilots and 15 helicopter pilots.
Reflecting on his career, Gen Mohd Asghar Khan mentioned his upcoming retirement on June 26 after 40 years of service. A handover ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Subang Air Base in Selangor. He has served as the Chief of Air Force since March 2022, having joined the service as a cadet officer at the Royal Military College and later beginning his career as an RMAF fighter pilot in 1985.
Known by the call sign ‘GUNJIZ’, Gen Mohd Asghar Khan recently demonstrated his piloting skills by flying a Sukhoi Su-30MKM at the 2025 Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition.
