Kuala lumpur: A new engagement session with traders impacted by the infrastructure upgrade in Desa Pandan will soon be held, announced Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa. The meeting will involve her ministry and nine traders to discuss relocation options due to the area’s upgrade works.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Zaliha revealed that the session aims to find suitable relocation solutions as part of the ‘Lestari Niaga’ initiative currently underway in Kuala Lumpur. While some traders have agreed to the relocation, a few remain undecided. The upcoming session is crucial for reaching a mutual agreement to expedite the road-widening project necessary for public convenience.
Dr Zaliha addressed reporters after inaugurating the Federal Territories-level 2025 Climate Change and Green Energy Leadership Project (IKLIM). She mentioned that engagement sessions have been ongoing since November 2024 and continued this January, including issuing vacancy notices for the affected area.
She emphasized the need for the Federal Territories Department (JWP) and Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to promptly engage with the traders and present them with relocation options. “We will ensure they have the necessary facilities to continue their business,” she stated.
Previously, DBKL reported that demolition activities at Jalan 2/76, Desa Pandan, scheduled for July 15, were postponed due to a commotion at the site. The upgrade project is part of efforts by local authorities to enhance infrastructure and improve traffic flow for city residents’ comfort and safety.
