Public Shows Strong Support For ‘Jom Beli Lokal’ Campaign At KPDN Carnival

Kuala lumpur: The Buy Malaysian Goods Campaign (KBBM) 2025 themed ‘Jom Beli Lokal’ has received a positive response from traders and visitors at the Southern Zone Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) Carnival Tour held here. A Bernama check found that most visitors and entrepreneurs welcomed the initiative, viewing it as a timely move to strengthen demand for local products and benefit micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, caf© owner Roslinda Basir, 51, said the campaign has opened more opportunities for small-scale entrepreneurs to promote their products directly to consumers. Roslinda expressed satisfaction with the sales of her nasi ambang and homemade side dishes at the carnival, noting the encouraging response over the past two days. She emphasized the importance of continued government support to boost confidence in locally made products.

Kuih keria seller Mohamad Riduan Sukiman, 41, also praised the campaign, highlighting its role in empowering local industries. He suggested extending such efforts to rural areas to leverage the high quality of local products and reach wider markets.

Visitor Noraini Md Yusof, 32, viewed the campaign as an essential step in stimulating the economy post-pandemic. She underscored the affordability and quality of local products, urging Malaysians to support them.

For business student S. Harvindran, 21, the KBBM initiative serves as both a showcase for local products and a means to instill patriotism. He noted that supporting local traders contributes to national economic growth and highlighted the competitiveness of local products compared to international brands.

Meanwhile, KPDN Business Development Division director Adiratno Che Ani reported that 63 booths featuring local businesses were set up under the KBBM pavilion, alongside strategic partners and national brands such as Proton and Perodua. The booths showcased a range of products, from food and beverages to household items and lifestyle goods.

He encouraged the public to visit the carnival, which runs until tomorrow, and support local entrepreneurs. The KBBM 2025 was launched by Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali to expand market access for local products and reduce dependence on imports.
