Preacher’s Accreditation Revoked Amid Sex Video Investigation

Kuala lumpur: The accreditation of a freelance preacher alleged to be involved in the circulation of sex videos has been revoked, as confirmed by Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs). He urged the public to allow the police to conduct a fair and transparent investigation into the matter.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the preacher’s accreditation, which had been previously granted, was withdrawn following allegations. Mohd Na’im emphasized the importance of allowing the police to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation to avoid any miscarriage of justice. He made these remarks at the Wacana Dakwah Al-Falah Memacu Ummah MADANI programme at Pondok Sungai Durian.

Shah Alam police chief ACP Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim confirmed that an investigation was initiated after a report was lodged by the preacher’s second wife on June 16. She accused him of circulating explicit videos involving her, his first wife, and several other women. The suspect has been released on police bail pending the completion of investigations under various legal sections.

Mohd Na’im also urged religious speakers to adhere to Islamic principles and use their knowledge responsibly. He stated that any preacher found to have acted in a manner that damages the credibility of religious institutions would have their accreditation revoked by the relevant state authorities. He encouraged the public to verify the credentials of speakers with the State Mufti Department or religious authority.

Furthermore, Mohd Na’im called on pondok institutions nationwide to register with state religious authorities. This registration would facilitate access to government support, including infrastructure maintenance, following necessary safety checks. He mentioned that registration would streamline the process for these institutions to receive assistance and ensure their curricula align with national education guidelines.
