Kuala lumpur: The Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN (CPR) convened its sixth meeting for 2025 here Sunday to deliberate ongoing discussions with partner countries, focusing on formulating a new Plan of Action that will shape future collaboration.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Permanent Representative of Malaysia to ASEAN in Jakarta, Datin Sarah Nava Rani Al Bakri Devadason, stated that the meeting was part of the region’s broader effort to implement the ASEAN Community Vision 2045. ‘This meeting is basically to discuss the way forward in terms of cooperation with our partners,’ she mentioned after chairing the meeting ahead of the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and related meetings at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).
Additionally, she noted that the committee reviewed efforts to strengthen the ASEAN Secretariat, preparations for Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship throughout this year, as well as the CPR’s work plan. The meeting saw the participation of permanent representatives from all ten ASEAN member states, with Timor-Leste attending as an observer.
The CPR, based in Jakarta, serves as the key coordinating body for ASEAN’s daily operations, supporting the work of the ASEAN Coordinating Council and ensuring effective implementation of regional initiatives.
