PGRS AGM First Before Any Decision On Sabah Assembly Dissolution, Says Hajiji

Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor stated that the announcement regarding the dissolution of the Sabah state assembly would likely occur only after the annual meeting of Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS) scheduled at the end of July. This dissolution could lead to the 17th state election. However, Hajiji clarified that an exact date for dissolution has not been decided yet, despite rumors suggesting a possible timeline in late July or early August.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Hajiji, who also holds the position of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition chairman and PGRS president, emphasized the importance of the upcoming PGRS AGM, noting that it will be a crucial event ahead of the anticipated state election. The current term of the 16th Sabah state assembly is set to expire automatically on November 11.

The Chief Minister expressed that the ruling coalition is prepared to face any political party during the state election. He mentioned that any alliances with other parties would be
determined by the GRS Supreme Council. Hajiji urged party members to remain united and strengthen party machinery in preparation for the upcoming election.

In his address, Hajiji advised PGRS and GRS leaders and members to learn from the present political climate and counter misinformation spread by the opposition on social media. He urged members to distinguish between misinformation and the government’s actual accomplishments, encouraging them to remain steadfast against opposition falsehoods.

Hajiji concluded by urging party members to stand firm alongside GRS Plus partners, particularly in the Sulaman region, as they prepare for the possible election scenario.
