Kuala lumpur: The National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) is coordinating immediate actions with relevant agencies in response to the floods impacting six states, as announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. This includes early emergency announcements via SMS by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the distribution of welfare aid and necessities by the Social Welfare Department (JKM).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, additional measures are being undertaken by the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID), which is operating emergency pumps to manage water levels and mitigate the risk of further flooding. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim expressed his concern for those affected by the floods and urged the public to remain vigilant, adhere to official instructions, and evacuate to temporary relief centers when necessary for their safety.
The Prime Minister also extended his gratitude to frontliners and volunteers for their ongoing efforts to assist flood victims. Current data from the National Disaster Control Centre (NDCC) indicates that the states of Selangor, Pahang, Terengganu, Kelantan, Johor, and Sarawak are affected, with 13,419 victims currently taking shelter in 95 centers.
