Kuala lumpur: Malaysia’s MyPOWER Corporation has entered into a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) with Russia’s Rosatom Energy Projects to facilitate knowledge sharing in nuclear energy development. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadilah Yusof emphasized that the NDA marks a significant step towards evaluating technologies such as the Floating Nuclear Power Plant (FNPP).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, MyPOWER has been tasked by the Malaysian government to further engage with Rosatom to identify additional cooperation opportunities. This development was highlighted during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister Fadilah Yusof and Rosatom’s director-general Alexey Likhachev, focusing on advancing bilateral collaboration in nuclear energy.
The agreement was signed by MyPOWER’s acting chief executive officer, Devendra Thambirajah, and Rosatom Energy Projects’ general director, Andrey Rozhdestvin. MyPOWER operates as a special purpose agency under Malaysia’s Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation.
Fadillah, who also serves as the Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, noted Malaysia’s readiness to explore the potential deployment of the FNPP. He mentioned the possibility of entering into further agreements, such as a memorandum of understanding or an inter-governmental agreement, pending necessary approvals from both countries.
