MELAKA: The Melaka State Legislative Assembly has successfully passed the 2025 state budget, a financial plan unveiled by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh. The budget, which was tabled last Friday, amounts to RM585.7 million and is themed ‘Catalysing Planned Development, Building a Glorious Future’. It received the support of 24 assemblymen, while two abstained from voting, and two were notably absent.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the assembly witnessed active participation from 16 assemblymen who engaged in a detailed debate concerning the future financial strategy for the state. The discussion was followed by a comprehensive winding-up session conducted by Chief Minister Ab Rauf. The budget allocates RM497.7 million for operating expenses, with the remaining RM88 million dedicated to development expenditures.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the 2025 budget is structured around three pivotal agendas: economic diversification and enhancing competitiveness, community development through quality human capital transformation, and the promotion of efficiency and integrity within public services. These agendas are supported by 12 key focus areas, which are aligned with 11 Exco portfolios, alongside one specific focus dedicated to public service improvement.
The budget aims to be implemented comprehensively, ensuring that the outlined objectives are met to propel the state towards a prosperous future. The focus on strategic economic and community initiatives demonstrates Melaka’s commitment to sustainable growth and development in the coming years.
