KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Employers Federation (MEF) has appointed Sheikh Farouk Sheik Mohamed as its new chief executive, effective January 1, 2025. With over two decades of experience in corporate leadership, finance, and strategic business management, Sheikh Farouk is set to guide MEF into a new era.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, MEF announced in a statement that Sheikh Farouk will lead the federation’s efforts to advocate for employers, promote progressive labor policies, and engage with key stakeholders to bolster Malaysia’s economic growth. MEF’s president, Datuk Dr. Syed Hussain Husman, commended Sheikh Farouk’s extensive leadership experience, stating that his global perspective and strategic skills make him a fitting choice to steer the organization through this transformative time.
Datuk Dr. Syed Hussain Husman expressed enthusiasm for Sheikh Farouk’s appointment, highlighting the expectation that his leadership will enhance MEF’s position as a reliable representative for Malaysian employers. The incoming chief executive is anticipated to focus on fostering collaborations and advancing the federation’s mission in the coming years.
Meanwhile, MEF also announced the transition of Datuk Shamsuddin Bardan, who has served the federation for over 40 years, including 25 years as executive director, into an advisory role. Shamsuddin will continue to offer strategic counsel and support to MEF.
Reflecting on his tenure, Shamsuddin expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead MEF and contribute to Malaysia’s economic landscape. He voiced excitement about continuing his service in an advisory capacity, aiming to assist in the federation’s future development and achievements.
