Kuala lumpur: Media organisations have been urged to apply for the RM30 million Media Innovation Fund, now entering its fifth phase, Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching announced. She detailed that applications for this phase are open from May 1 to 14, with each organisation eligible to apply for up to RM300,000. The fund covers workforce training, software and technology adoption, equipment, and strengthening support facilities and content.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, 34 media organisations have been approved for funding totaling RM12.38 million under the first phase, while applications for phases two to four remain under review. Deputy Minister Teo encouraged media organisations that have not yet applied to take advantage of this opportunity. She noted that this is already the fifth phase, and if the funding is fully utilized, there may not be subsequent phases this year.
Deputy Minister Teo made these remarks after the closing ceremony of a course on artificial intelligence (AI), online safety, and media reporting ethics. The event also featured the presence of Tun Abdul Razak Broadcasting and Information Institute (IPPTAR) director Datuk Roslan Ariffin, head of Academic Division Mohammad Yusari Ameer Mohd Yusof, and Malaysian Media Council board member Teh Athira Yusof.
