Kuala lumpur: The Unity Government Leadership Consultative Council between UMNO and Pakatan Harapan (PH) convened today and reached a consensus to maintain their cooperation in the Negeri Sembilan Unity Government. This decision was made in the interest of ensuring state stability and prioritizing the well-being of the people.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, PH secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and UMNO secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki issued a joint statement emphasizing that any decisions by the Negeri Sembilan state government that could lead to sensitivities or disputes should be immediately referred to the UMNO-PH Leadership Consultative Council. The statement highlighted the council's commitment to respecting the positions adopted by both parties' political bureaus regarding issues in Negeri Sembilan.
The Unity Government Leadership Consultative Council was co-chaired by PH chairman and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, along with UMNO president and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. The meeting, which commenced at 5.15 pm and lasted for approximately an hour, saw the attendance of prominent UMNO and PH leaders, including UMNO deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke, and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.
Additionally, notable figures such as PKR information chief Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, PKR secretary-general Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh, DAP chairman Gobind Singh Deo, UMNO vice-presidents Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, as well as UMNO information chief Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said were present at the meeting.
