Malaysia and Senegal Work to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

Kuala lumpur: Malaysia and Senegal are collaborating to enhance bilateral ties, focusing on key areas such as trade, investment, haj, waqf, and the halal industry, which present significant opportunities for mutual development. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim highlighted these areas as central to the discussions held during a courtesy call by Senegal’s Minister of African Integration and Foreign Affairs, Yassine Fall.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the meeting also involved exchanging views on various regional and international issues of mutual concern, including developments in the Middle East and the African continent. Anwar shared insights from the meeting on his Facebook page, emphasizing the importance of these discussions.

Yassine Fall is visiting Malaysia for a two-day official trip, reciprocating the official visit made by Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan to Senegal in May 2024. This visit aims to further cement the growing relationship between the two nations.

In 2024, Malaysia’s total trade with Senegal amounted to RM1.37 billion, with Malaysian exports making up RM1.35 billion and imports from Senegal valued at RM14.1 million. This trade balance underscores the economic potential that both countries are eager to expand upon.
