Kuala lumpur: The Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture, and Agrotourism Exhibition (MAHA 2026) is set to take place from August 28 to September 6, aiming to achieve RM8 billion in investment potential. The event will focus on the modernisation of agricultural technology on both local and global scales.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, announced that the exhibition will be held at the Malaysia Agricultural Expo Park (MAEPS). The event is expected to attract four million visitors and feature 2,000 domestic and international exhibitors. The minister highlighted the goal of achieving at least RM55 million in direct sales and RM8 billion in investment through the signing of memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and memoranda of agreement (MoAs).
The minister also mentioned the participation of 800,000 youths in various activities organised for the event. He noted that the Cabinet has approved the continuation of MAHA 2026, emphasizing the significance of introducing the public to advancements in the agricultural sector.
"We know there's a global energy crisis right now. Even so, the government has approved MAHA 2026 to proceed, as it remains extremely important, particularly with this year's focus on modernisation," Mohamad Sabu stated. He encouraged Malaysians, particularly those in agriculture, to attend and learn new farming technologies from advanced agricultural countries such as China, Taiwan, and the Netherlands.
In a separate press conference, Mohamad Sabu revealed that the ministry is targeting between RM10 million and RM15 million in sponsorships for the event. He expressed hope that the theme of modernisation would engage young people's interest in agriculture, despite the ongoing energy crisis.
Nearly 100 company representatives and potential sponsors attended a hi-tea session, where they received briefings on available sponsorship packages. Sponsors also learned about various incentives and benefits through their participation and sponsorship.
MAHA 2026 is themed "Value Creation for Food Security," aligning with Malaysia's vision of developing a resilient, tech-driven, high-impact agri-food ecosystem.
