MACC’s STRIKE Programme Sets Benchmark for Enforcement Agencies

Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's (MACC) Strategic Programme on Weight Management Awareness, Health and Metabolic Control (STRIKE-SPRM) is being hailed as a potential model for other enforcement agencies. MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki highlighted the programme's success, emphasizing its structured approach, professional support, and the importance of self-discipline in achieving effective and sustainable weight management and metabolic health.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Azam Baki expressed pride in the commitment shown by participants, noting improvements not only in weight loss but also in overall health management, including conditions like diabetes and hypertension. He stated that MACC's initiative could inspire a broader healthy lifestyle culture across public service sectors. The remarks were made in a statement during the STRIKE programme's closing ceremony at MACC headquarters.

Azam Baki stressed the importance of sustaining the programme's success through ongoing healthy lifestyle practices, discipline, and a deeper understanding of the body's metabolic responses to diet and physical activity changes.

Prof Dr Barakatun Nisak Mohd Yusof, the STRIKE-SPRM project head and deputy dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), remarked on the primary challenge faced by participants: maintaining consistency in following the programme modules. The initiative, which commenced on July 24, 2025, involved 180 MACC officers and staff and was supported by UPM and the Malaysian Obesity Society (MYOS).

Participation was voluntary, driven by personal health awareness and a desire among MACC personnel to maintain a more professional image and appearance.
