Late Juma’ani Remembered For Her Loving And Gentle Nature

Kuala Lumpur: The late Puan Sri Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang, wife of Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, was fondly remembered for her loving heart and gentle demeanour. Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers of Sarawak (SABATI) deputy president Datuk Doreen Mayang said that during her time working alongside Juma’ani, who served as SABATI president, she witnessed her unwavering dedication and compassion for charitable work.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Doreen Mayang noted, “She always offered us guidance in fulfilling our roles as the wives of elected representatives.” Juma’ani was also deeply passionate about traditional crafts such as keringkam and songket, contributing significantly to their promotion to a broader audience. These reflections were shared by Mayang after she paid her last respects at Masjid Jamek Negeri Sarawak earlier today.

Meanwhile, Sarawak Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah described Juma’ani as an exemplary wife, whose gentle nature was matched by her steadfastness in providing guidance and counsel. Abdullah emphasized the profound loss felt by everyone in the ministry, acknowledging Juma’ani’s active involvement in initiatives supporting women, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities (PWDs). Her consistent presence at state-level Women’s Day celebrations was particularly noted.

Juma’ani’s passing at a private medical centre at 3.34 am today marks a significant loss to the community she served. At 76, she leaves behind a legacy of compassion and commitment to social causes, with many remembering her personal touch and dedication. Abdullah added, “We will miss her presence and personal touch at every event. We pray that her soul will be placed among the righteous and the pious.”
