Kuala Lumpur: Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail announced that a candidate has been identified to fill the vacant post of director-general of the Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS). The announcement regarding the appointment is expected to be made shortly, as the process is currently underway. Saifuddin shared this information with reporters following his attendance at the ministry’s monthly assembly.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the position of AKPS director-general has been unoccupied since Datuk Seri Hazani Ghazali retired on February 10. The delay in appointing a new director-general has been a concern for some, including the Malaysian Corruption Watch (MCW), which on May 14, urged for the prompt filling of this critical role. The organization emphasized the importance of having strong leadership in place to ensure the agency’s effective operation.
