Tashkent: A delegation of 20 travel industry representatives from various tourism agencies embarked on a business-to-business (B2B) tourism roadshow in Tashkent, Uzbekistan last month. Head of Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) Business Council (Tourism) for Labuan Jerry Teo said that the initiative was aimed at promoting Malaysian tour packages and Labuan’s unique ‘5S’ – Sea, Sun, Sand, Ship, and Seafood – tourism resources and products.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the roadshow provided an excellent platform for showcasing Labuan’s rich tourism offerings. Jerry Teo noted that they were able to highlight not only Labuan’s natural beauty and marine attractions but also introduce the Islamic Cruise concept. This innovative package is designed to cater to Muslim travellers seeking faith-friendly experiences at sea and was one of the key offerings promoted during the presentation sessions.
Participants in the roadshow also engaged in a tourism seminar attended by local tour operators and travel buyers in Uzbekistan. This seminar offered insights into Malaysia’s diverse travel experiences, halal-friendly destinations, and niche tourism products. Jerry Teo emphasized that the roadshow is expected to pave the way for greater tourism collaboration between Malaysia and Central Asia, especially as Malaysia aims to position itself as a preferred destination for Muslim travellers and nature-based tourism.
