Kuching: Kuching City FC will look to sustain their momentum against Immigration FC in the next Super League fixture after edging Selangor FC 1-0 at the State Stadium here today, said its head coach Aidil Sharin Sahak. He also applauded his players’ performance and attitude, particularly in the second half when his tactical changes shifted the momentum.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Aidil mentioned that altering the game plan and introducing players like Jordan Mintah, Joao Pedro, and Filemon Standly proved effective. He expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance during a post-match press conference. He credited the players for executing the game plan with determination and acknowledged the fans’ support throughout the match.
The decisive goal occurred in the 68th minute when Ramdhan Saifullah’s curling free kick successfully beat Selangor goalkeeper Kalamullah Al-Hafiz, securing three valuable points for Kuching City. With this victory, Kuching City, having played four matches, accumulated seven points, surpassing Selangor, who have six points after five matches, in the Super League table.
Looking ahead, Aidil emphasized the significance of maintaining consistency as the team prepares to face Immigration FC on September 28. He highlighted the importance of keeping the momentum and improving consistency to sustain the current level throughout the season. Aidil also mentioned that Wanja Ronald Ngah’s condition was not an injury but a cramp and expressed confidence in his readiness for the upcoming game.
Meanwhile, Selangor FC head coach Katsuhito Kinoshi acknowledged the difficulty of the defeat, citing the team’s tight schedule and travel fatigue. He noted that the team played just two days ago in the Asian Football Confederation Champions League 2 and only arrived in Kuching a day before the match. Kinoshi took responsibility for the result but remained optimistic about the team’s ability to bounce back.
Kinoshi remarked on the challenge of conceding from a free kick and the difficulty in reversing the game, but he praised the players’ efforts until the end. He assured supporters and management of the team’s ongoing efforts to make them proud.
