Kuala lumpur: The World Corporate Golf Challenge (WCGC) Malaysia is set to reach its pinnacle as 20 elite corporate teams, representing distinguished companies, prepare to tee off at the prestigious Kota Permai Golf and Country Club for the much-anticipated National Final on Thursday.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, this grand finale will not only showcase top-level competition but also celebrate the unifying spirit of sport, business, and camaraderie. The ultimate prize awaits the National champions, who will earn the honor of representing Malaysia at the October 19-23 WCGC World Final in Shanghai, China. They will compete against 32 countries at the world-renowned Shanghai Dongzhuang Beach Golf Club, with the Linksland Course hosting the WCGC and the Parkland Course staging the Sports Legend Cup.
WCGC Malaysia advisor Mohd Salim Mohamed Sain, in a statement, said this event is more than just a prestigious corporate golf tournament, serving as a platform that celebrates corporate excellence, international camaraderie, and the spirit of healthy competition. ‘By hosting WCGC in Selangor, we aim to position Malaysia as a key player in the global corporate sports arena,’ he added.
The WCGC Malaysia is held under the royal patronage of the Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah. ‘This is more than just a golf challenge; it is a platform that unites corporate leaders, sponsors, and icons of the sport to forge connections and showcase excellence. I look forward to witnessing the spirit of competition and collaboration as Malaysia paves its way to the World Finals,’ said Tengku Amir Shah, who is expected to grace the awards presentation ceremony at the National Final.
This year’s National Final is the culmination of four highly competitive qualifying rounds involving more than 480 participants, starting at Kelab Golf Seri Selangor on May 22 with 108 players, followed by Tropicana Golf and Country Resort on June 24 (124 players), Glenmarie Golf and Country Club on July 22 (132 players), and Templer Park Country Club on August 21 (120 players). The top five teams from each qualifier advanced, bringing together 20 of Malaysia’s finest corporate golf teams for the ultimate showdown at the Kota Permai GCC.
