Kuala lumpur: Malaysia's younger generation must understand the country's history and appreciate the struggles of previous generations in building a peaceful and united nation, while rejecting corruption that could undermine the country's future. Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil emphasized the potential dangers posed by communism, communalism, and corruption to the nation's stability.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fahmi highlighted how communism had previously posed a significant threat to national security, with armed movements, killings, and disruptions capable of destabilizing Malaysia. Although the threat of communism has been mitigated, Fahmi urged the society to remain vigilant against threats to unity, particularly communalism. He cautioned that communalism arises when individuals prioritize their own race over others, leading to oppression and division.

Fahmi stressed the importance of leadership as a position of trust, emphasizing the responsibility to act in the nation's best interest without betraying that trust. He delivered these remarks during the JIWA@Komuniti National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM) 2026 program at Politeknik Kuching.

He further noted Malaysia's unique formation through consensus and negotiation, contrasting it with countries that achieved independence through conflict. Fahmi called on the younger generation to preserve the history and values that have shaped the nation, ensuring Malaysia remains peaceful, united, and progressive in the future.
