Teluk intan: The Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) is actively encouraging private developers to contribute land to the government for the development of housing projects under the People’s Residency Programme (PRR). Minister Nga Kor Ming emphasized the initiative, highlighting that a study would be conducted to evaluate the suitability of land offered by developers for these projects.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Minister Nga stated that the opportunity is open to private housing developers and not limited to state governments. The government is prepared to accept any land offered by interested developers. A technical team will be responsible for assessing the land and its location to determine if it is appropriate for PRR projects.
Minister Nga further explained that the ministry has previously acquired 32 parcels of land at no cost through collaboration with state governments. He noted that in the past, the ministry faced challenges due to expenses incurred in purchasing land and paying premiums, which limited funds for building quality houses. The new policy promotes a win-win formula aimed at overcoming these challenges.
From this year onward, KPKT has stipulated that all PRR projects will adopt an integrated development concept, which includes various facilities for the community. Minister Nga also announced that the first PRR in Perak is expected to launch at the end of the year in Tambun, with a budget of approximately RM150 million. The project will feature various designs to be unveiled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Tambun.
Minister Nga outlined the target to launch the first PRR in Tambun by the end of the year, followed by additional projects in Teluk Intan. The PRR units are priced at RM60,000 each for locations outside urban areas, while projects within city limits will be offered on a rental basis.
In the meantime, the PR1MA Teluk Intan Townhouse Project has seen a positive response, with all units in Phase 1A-1 reserved within two weeks of the selection process. It is PR1MA’s first integrated townhouse project, featuring a gross development value of RM103 million. The project, which includes 86 single-storey terrace units over 39 acres, is slated for completion in the third quarter of 2028.
