KLIA Aerotrain to Resume Full 24-Hour Operations by End of Month: Loke

Kuala lumpur: The aerotrain service at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is anticipated to return to 24-hour operations by the month's end, subject to approval from relevant authorities, according to Transport Minister Anthony Loke. He mentioned that Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) has conducted all necessary tests, and a comprehensive report is currently being submitted to the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) for further evaluation.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Loke expressed optimism about the resumption of full operations after APAD's approval, aiming for the end of this month. He made this announcement at a press conference following the launch of the MyKLIA and MyPutrajaya Monthly TravelCard (MTC) at KLIA Terminal 2.

Loke elaborated that while the aerotrain is still operational, services are temporarily halted for a few hours at night to facilitate maintenance and inspections. This measure ensures the continued safety and reliability of the system.

On November 14 of the previous year, MAHB reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing the aerotrain system's reliability at KLIA. This commitment involves implementing a comprehensive action plan to address technical issues that have arisen since the service's resumption in July 2025.

Previously, Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Hasbi Habibollah reported 19 incidents involving the KLIA Terminal 1 Aerotrain from July 2 to September 30. These incidents included various issues, such as passengers forcing train doors open. Since resuming operations on July 1, the aerotrain system has served approximately seven million passengers, completed over 53,000 return trips, and achieved an operational service availability of 98.41 percent.
