Johor Police Deploys Over 3,500 Personnel for Early Voting Security in State Election

Johor bahru: The Johor contingent of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has mobilised 3,565 personnel to ensure that the early voting process for the 16th Johor state election proceeds smoothly, safely, and in an orderly manner.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Johor police chief Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad stated that the deployment consists of 647 officers, 2,806 rank-and-file personnel, and 112 civilian staff. These personnel are tasked with ensuring security at early voting centres, escorting ballot boxes, controlling traffic, conducting crime prevention patrols, managing operations room duties, monitoring strategic locations, and enforcing the law across all involved areas.

Ab Rahaman emphasized the police's readiness to oversee the voting process, highlighting that early voting would take place at 64 centres across Johor, including 53 police early voting centres and 11 Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) early voting centres. A total of 12,710 police personnel are registered as early voters for this election, with 12,067 expected to vote at these centres, while the remaining 643 will participate via postal voting.

The police will maintain heightened operational readiness, monitoring, and enforcement throughout the early voting process and continue these efforts for the duration of the 16th Johor state election period. Ab Rahaman stressed that any legal violations will be addressed firmly, fairly, and with integrity.

He urged the public to comply with the law, respect the democratic process, and cooperate with personnel on duty to ensure that the election is conducted in a peaceful, safe, and orderly manner. The election has attracted 172 candidates vying for 56 state assembly seats, with polling set for July 11.
