JIM Lorry Crash: Three Victims’ Remains To Be Taken To Perak For Burial

Kuala lumpur: The remains of three family members killed in an accident involving a Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) lorry on Jalan Sultan Ismail were released from Kuala Lumpur Hospital's National Institute of Forensic Medicine (IPFN) at about 5.45 pm after the post-mortem was completed.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the remains of Shaik Mohd Firdaus Shaikh Yahya, 53, and his two daughters, Siti Nor Sazlin, 25, and Siti Darwisyah Auni, 12, were taken from the IPFN in three hearses to be handed over to the next of kin for funeral arrangements. The arrangements include taking the remains to Jamiul Ehsan Mosque, Jalan Pahang, for bathing, shrouding, and funeral prayers before heading to the Kampung Air Hitam Labu Muslim Cemetery in Kampar, Perak, for burial.

Media reported that three family members died while another was seriously injured after being hit by a JIM Black Maria lorry on Jalan Sultan Ismail at about 1 am. The lorry, which had no passengers, was believed to be on its way to Chow Kit for a raid against undocumented migrants, with its beacon lights and siren activated. It allegedly entered the Maju Junction intersection against a red light before colliding with a Proton Saga traveling straight on a green light.

The impact caused the lorry to lose control and skid, hitting four pedestrians and an Inokom Matrix multi-purpose vehicle. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
