PM Anwar Orders Immediate Probe Into Fatal Immigration Lorry Crash

Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has instructed the Immigration Department to conduct an immediate and thorough investigation into a fatal crash involving one of its lorries on Jalan Sultan Ismail here early this morning.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar emphasized that action should be taken if the investigation uncovers evidence of negligence or breaches of the law. In a Facebook post, he stated, "I have ordered the Immigration Department to carry out an immediate and comprehensive investigation. If negligence or any breach of the law is found, appropriate action must be taken without compromise."

Anwar also expressed his condolences to the family of the victims involved in this tragic accident.

The incident occurred around 1 am and resulted in the deaths of a 53-year-old man and his two daughters, aged 25 and 12. They reportedly died at the scene after being struck by an Immigration Department lorry at the Maju Junction traffic-light intersection.

The man's 55-year-old wife survived the crash, although she sustained injuries to her head, arms, and both legs. She is currently receiving treatment in the Red Zone at Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

According to police reports, the Isuzu Black Maria lorry was unladen and en route from the Kuala Lumpur Immigration Office to Chow Kit for an operation targeting undocumented migrants.
