JAIS To Call Two New Witnesses In eHati Probe Tomorrow – Mohd Na’im

Kuala lumpur: The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) will summon two new witnesses tomorrow to record their statements as part of the investigation into the eHati marriage programme, which is alleged to involve immoral activities and the dissemination of questionable beliefs. Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar, stated that the case is being investigated under Section 7 of the Syariah Criminal Offences (Selangor) Enactment 1995.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohd Na’im confirmed that the investigation has commenced, and expressed hope that the witnesses will attend tomorrow. His comments came after officiating the pre-launch ceremony of the 65th International Quran Recitation and Memorisation Assembly (MTHQA) at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL).

Mohd Na’im noted that two women, who initially served as witnesses, had previously lodged a complaint with the JAIS Research Division. He mentioned that the Enforcement Division had informed him about the hesitance of these complainants to provide further information. He emphasized the importance of witness cooperation to ensure a fair investigation by JAIS.

Furthermore, Mohd Na’im explained that the JAIS Enforcement Division is collaborating with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to investigate potential civil law offences related to the case. He urged all parties with relevant information to cooperate fully with the authorities to facilitate a fair and transparent resolution.

The public was recently startled by social media revelations alleging that the eHati motivational programme, reportedly organized by a married couple, involved inappropriate activities and the spread of dubious beliefs. A Facebook post alleged that two women performed a nude dance during a session at a convention center in Shah Alam. It was also claimed that participants were given a mysterious liquid causing emotional changes and were instructed to partake in ‘holy cleansing baths’ and ‘rebirth’ rituals similar to those in other religions.
